Regining Grace - Counter Culture

BCC Staff Note: The mission of the Biblical Counseling Coalition is to multiply the ministry of the biblical counseling movement. One of the ways we seek to accomplish this mission is by using our “BCC Megaphone” to help biblical counseling ministries get the word out about their conferences. We do so today by highlighting the March 20-22, 2014 Biblical Counseling Conference of Reigning Grace Counseling Center of Kansas City, Missouri.

Counter Culture

Counter Culture: Practical Biblical Counseling for the Issues of Today is a regional counseling conference hosted by Reigning Grace Counseling Center, March 20-22, 2014, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Every week those engaged in the ministry of soul care are faced with helping hurting people who have been affected by sin. It may have been their own sin or the actions of another person that have spilled over into their life. The issues get larger and seemingly more complicated with each passing month.  Sometimes even well-trained counselors are at a loss as to what to say or how to direct a counselee to find help, healing and hope. We need each other.

In addition, our culture is changing fast and Christians often don’t know how to respond to the worldly influences around us that are telling us our beliefs are unlawful and our morals and values are outdated. What should be our response to the issues of the day that are currently shifting with the sands of tolerance and acceptance? We need an unshakeable foundation.

Our conference is named Counter Culture because we know that the answers to life’s problems, while complicated and sometimes challenging to address, are not found in the wisdom of the world, but in the wisdom of God’s Word. This is truly revolutionary/counter cultural thinking to our present society that promotes the idea that there are no absolutes. We have unchangeable truth.

We are excited to host a Regional Conference that will bring together biblical counselors from all across the country to the Kansas City area in March of 2014. This conference will address head on the tough cultural issues we face in life and in biblical counseling.

“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence” (2 Peter 1:3).

We have lined up an excellent array of speakers from each of the main biblical counseling organizations such as Dr. Mark Shaw (ACBC), who will present Thursday’s Preconference on a biblical approach to addictions, and will also speak at the main conference. Dr. Robert Kellemen (BCC) will present on Wisdom for Life in a Broken World. We will also have Dr. David Tyler of the AABC (Author of Deceptive Diagnosis), and Dr. Kevin Hurt (IABC), along with other excellent Biblical Counselors from the Kansas City area and across the country. This conference will arm you with biblical truth to help you stand firmly on solid ground in the face of shifting sands of ungodly teaching and policies so prevalent in the world today.

Because we know the needs of men and women differ, we have blocked out a special breakout time called Women Counseling Women and Men Counseling Men. The workshops presented will address specific issues common to each gender. This promises to be an informative part of Friday afternoon.

Those seeking certification with any of the organizations represented through Reigning Grace Counseling Center will have an opportunity to get a part of their education component completed, as we will offer an entire Track of training at the conference. Just look for the sessions with the asterisk.

Because the topics presented here are so important, we have strived to make this conference affordable for everyone who desires to attend. Kansas City is located in the heartland of the country and provides both beautiful scenery and economical accommodations for your visit. I invite you to visit the conference website for more information on speakers and the topics to be presented.
