Part of the BCC mission/vision is to be a megaphone for biblical counseling organizations. So, our BCC staff was excited when we received the following announcements from Jay Adams and Donn Arms about developments and upcoming training opportunities at The Institute for Nouthetic Studies. We’re glad to pass on this information to our Grace & Truth readership and to encourage you to consider the following training opportunities, to enjoy these updates, and to pray for the ministry of The Institute for Nouthetic Studies.
We (The Institute for Nouthetic Studies) can now announce that beginning September 4 students will be able to study biblical counseling under Dr. Jay Adams ONLINE! We have been working feverishly over the last six months to move our entire curriculum to an online delivery system which will enable students to begin studying immediately with the click of a mouse. In addition, we will be launching a complete overhaul of our website and Dr. Adams’ blog. Mark the date on your calendar and plan to check us out on Tuesday, September 4, the day after Labor Day.
During the month of September we will be celebrating this launch with a special offer for every new online student and a grand prize drawing at the end of the month for a complete set of Dr. Adams’ ten volume Christian Counselor’s Commentary (signed by Dr. Adams). Check out our new website on September 4 for more information.
On Thursday through Saturday, September 13 -15 well known author and biblical counselor Martha Peace will be here in the upstate of South Carolina to re-tape her course Counseling Women. We are inviting those who live here in the area as well as anyone who would like to journey to the upstate to sit in on that taping session and enjoy hearing Martha teach in person. For more information and a schedule of the taping sessions follow this link on our website.
Update on our Office Situation
As many of you know, for the past six years we (The Institute for Nouthetic Studies) have been enjoying the use of a wonderful home and office which once belonged to radio evangelist Oliver B Greene. This past year we have been negotiating with the current owner of the property in an effort to purchase it as a permanent home for the Institute. Late last year we thought we had an agreement with him but by the end of January it had become obvious that the Lord had other plans. We ended up losing our lease and went in search of both a new office and home. We quickly located a wonderful home that was being offered as a “short sale” by the bank. Had we known exactly what was entailed in the purchase of a “short sale” we probably would have kept looking, but now, six months after making our offer, we are scheduled to close in two weeks. This will provide more than adequate office space for us until a more permanent solution can be found. Please pray with us that all will go well with the closing and with all the chaos that accompanies a move.
Report on Dr. Adams
Dr. Adams underwent knee replacement surgery on May 4 and has had a difficult recuperation period. He spent two months in a rehabilitation facility and is continuing his physical therapy at home. He is still not able to stand or walk but we are hopeful that continued therapy will strengthen him. Please pray with us for Dr. Adams as he works to regain mobility.
RBCTI Begins September 10
If you live here in the upstate of South Carolina you can study with us live! The Redeemer Biblical Counseling Training Institute, a ministry of the Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Moore, SC (just south of Spartanburg), meets every Monday evening and features many of the same faculty members as The Institute for Nouthetic Studies.
